Tampa Bay covers roughly 450 square miles of water, and nearly all of it holds fish. Grass flats, mangrove shorelines, bridge pilings, channel edges, and the passes out to the Gulf give you a different kind of fishing depending on the season, the tide, and the day you pick. Shallow Point Charters puts you on that water with a local captain who knows where the fish are and why.

Captain David Beede runs private, guided Tampa Bay fishing charters for tarpon, snook, redfish, shark, grouper, and more. You bring food, drinks, and sunscreen. We handle the rest.

Why Fish Tampa Bay?

Few places in Florida give you this much variety this close to a major city. Within a short run from the ramp you can be sight-casting to redfish on a shallow flat, throwing live bait at snook along a mangrove edge, or hooking a hard-fighting shark on a deeper channel. The bay also sits next to the Gulf of Mexico, so nearshore trips for grouper, snapper, and amberjack are an easy add-on when conditions allow.

That range is the reason one trip can look completely different from the next. A good guide reads the tide, wind, and water temperature that morning and picks the spot, not the other way around.

What You Can Catch on a Tampa Bay Charter

Tarpon

The "Silver King" jumps, runs, and tests every angler. A bucket-list fish for many. See our tarpon fishing trips.

Snook & Redfish

The classic Tampa Bay inshore pair, great on light tackle. Fall is a standout window. Read our fall fishing guide.

Spotted Sea Trout

A steady, reliable target over the grass flats and a great fit for beginners and kids.

Sharks

Bull, hammerhead, blacktip, and tiger sharks roam the bay. Our shark fishing trips are built for action.

Grouper, Snapper & Amberjack

On nearshore trips we head out of the bay for bottom fish and bigger, heavier fish.

What's biting changes with the season and the weather. Ask Captain Dave about the dates you have in mind.

Your Boat and Your Captain

Trips run on a Gause-built boat that fits up to six anglers. It is equipped with PowerPole shallow-water anchors and a custom 14-foot tower, which lets the captain spot fish and work shallow flats that other boats cannot reach. It is a good setup for families, friends, and corporate groups.
